Mizzou Alternative Breaks is a student-led program at the University of Missouri- Columbia that sends groups of 12 students across the country and abroad over weekend, Thanksgiving, winter, spring, and summer breaks to serve local communities. In the past, trips have traveled to Jacksonville, FL; New York, NY; Slick Rock, CO; South Padre, TX; Philadelphia, PA; Boston, MA; Jinotega, Nicaragua; Monte Cristi, Dominican Republic, and more! Each trip has a service focus ranging from health and the the environment to education and homelessness and poverty. The small moments when our group sat in our cabin and shared our lives with each other, the morning runs with other participants in the swamp, seeing alligators while slowly floating through the swamp. All of it was wonderful, and I couldn’t have asked for a better way to spend my spring break.From the Blog
